Sleepy hubby stabs wife for waking him up

Kuala Lumpur (The Star/ANN) - An angry husband, who was awakened from his morning slumber, beat up and stabbed his wife, Malaysian newspaper Harian Metro reported.

The woman is now in coma and fighting for her life at the Ampang Hospital in Malaysia, the paper said.

A police source told the daily that the couple in their 30s had quarrelled at their Pandan Indah Commercial Park home after the wife woke him up at about 6am on Sunday and asked him to perform his subuh (dawn) prayer.

After repeatedly telling his wife not to bother him, the man lost his patience and started to beat her up.

Despite the assaults, the woman continued to nag him to pray which further infuriated the man.

He took out a knife and stabbed her in the abdomen.

The victim's screams alerted a neighbour who rushed to the house.

"On seeing the neighbour, the husband fled," the source said.

Ampang Jaya police chief Asst Comm Amiruddin Jamaluddin said police had mounted a manhunt for the suspect.
